PerfectDraft Stout Setup and Troubleshooting Guide

PerfectDraft Stout Setup and Troubleshooting Guide

PerfectDraft Stout kegs use a dedicated Stout dispense tube designed to produce the slower flow, cascade and creamy head associated with nitro stout. This guide is being held unpublished until TheKegCru stocks the compatible Stout keg.

Which PerfectDraft machines support Stout?

PerfectDraft’s current guidance states that the Stout keg can be served through Original Philips PerfectDraft machines, PerfectDraft Black and PerfectDraft Pro models. Original and Black machines require the dedicated Stout dispense tube. Pro models can also use Stout Mode through the PerfectDraft app.

Installing the Stout dispense tube

  1. Remove the regular dispense tube.
  2. Fit the dedicated Stout tube to the tap unit. The current Camden Stout tube is identified by a yellow ring on its connector.
  3. Attach the tap unit to the keg.
  4. Load the keg into the machine and allow it to reach the recommended serving range.

The Stout tube contains a built-in restrictor that creates the correct flow. It must not be used with non-Stout kegs. PerfectDraft recommends fitting a fresh Stout tube after each pouring session; several pints may be served during one session, but fit a fresh tube if the keg is left for several days.

Using Stout Mode on PerfectDraft Pro

Pair the Pro with the PerfectDraft app and enable Stout Mode. The machine then adjusts its pressure control for the Stout tube. Keep the app and machine firmware current; supported firmware updates install automatically after pairing.

If the stout is flat or has no cascade

  • Confirm that the dedicated Stout tube is fitted.
  • For Pro models, confirm Stout Mode is enabled.
  • Allow the keg to reach approximately 3–6°C before pouring.
  • Use a clean stout glass.
  • Replace the Stout dispense tube if it has been left between pouring sessions.

Why does the stout pour slowly?

A slower pour is normal. The restrictor in the dedicated tube controls the flow to create the surge and creamy head.

When this product becomes available, this guide should be checked against the supplied keg, tube and Irish app availability before publication.
